Highlights

  • Carry 3 Bikes Securely: Holds up to 3 bicycles, 40 lbs each, with 18"-29" wheels and 3" tires.
  • Protect Every Frame: Ratcheting hooks hold bikes by the wheels only—safe for carbon or painted frames.

  • Keep Rack Steady: Flatlock cam and anti-rattle wedge tighten in hitch to cut down on movement.
  • Lock Bikes in Place: Includes 1/4" braided steel cable lock to deter theft while you’re away.

Features to know about

Stable Support for Every Ride: 40 lb Capacity per Bike

Each mount on the Transfer V2 holds up to 40 lbs, giving you solid support for three bikes without overloading the rack. The platform design secures bikes by the wheels, not the frame, so carbon fiber and custom finishes stay untouched. It handles wheel diameters from 18" to 29", wheelbases up to 50", and tires up to 3.0" wide. The steel frame keeps everything steady, and the flatlock cam tightens in the hitch to cut down on play during travel.

Compatibility chart showing Kuat Transfer V2 3-bike rack approved for cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and flat-towed vehicles but not for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

Easy Loading and Lifting: Open U-Frame Design

Loading bikes is simple thanks to the U-shaped base. You can step inside the rack to lift bikes closer to their trays instead of leaning over the platform. It’s especially handy when loading the inner bike, and when folded up, the design keeps clear of backup cameras for better visibility.

Hands-Free Access to the Rear: Foot Pedal Tilt and Fold

No need to unload bikes to reach your gear. The spring-loaded foot lever tilts the rack down even when bikes are loaded, giving you quick access to the cargo area. When you’re done riding, use the same pedal to fold the rack up for a smaller footprint and easy storage.

Smart Wheel-Only Hold with Adjustable Fit

Ratcheting hooks keep the front wheel tight without touching the frame, while pivoting rear wheel cradles adjust automatically to different bike lengths. The front cradles can shift position to prevent bikes from contacting each other or to better fit smaller frames. Strap extenders (sold separately) expand fit for fat tires, so you can carry different bikes without fuss.

Built-In Security: Cable Lock and Tamper-Resistant Hardware

The Transfer V2 protects both bikes and rack. A 1/4" braided steel cable lock secures your bikes to the carrier, and the included 8-mm security wrench tightens the flatlock cam so only you can remove it. The hitch pin and wedge system hold everything tight, giving peace of mind whether you’re parked or cruising down the highway.

by:

I've had good luck with this rack. I still think it's a little harder to put bikes on than the 1Up style racks, but it's been secure, the stability is good, it's nice to be able to carry three bikes, and it folds up nice.

by:

Great value for money. Lighter than many other options makes it much easier to take on an off. I added the 1 bike add on and it works well as a 4 bike rack

by:

Packaging in great condition and shipped FAST! Also for those wondering it was not affected by the recall. Looks like they are only selling those manufactured in 2025 and later.

by:

This is my second order from etrailer and they are top of the line professional. Everything from communication to prompt shipping. I received my order as described on time and in good working order.

The Kuat transfer 2 bike carrier is an excellent choice at this price point. Takes some easy assembly, works great. You can tell Kuat takes pride in their craftsmanship. Well made product. I’m looking forward to putting it to good use and hoping it holds up to its promising outlook

by:

Excellent product. It requires some assembly but it's not hard. The rack is sturdy, doesn't flex or away. I extremely like the foot pedal design compare to others that requires messing with pins and nobs to fold up and down. The fact that the center is wide open makes it very easy to load the bikes up and easily manuverable when inserting the hitch as I can stand inside the rack close to the hitch.

All in all I am extremely happy with the purchase. Thanks Kaut for such a thoughtful product and etrailer for carrying it with a fair price.

by:

Customer service from etrailer and Kuat was excellent. Took me a little bit of time to put together, especially sliding the forks on (they are also a little squeaky a few months in). But for the price, I do think this was the best option for me. Getting bikes on/off is a breeze!

by:

Very helpful! I have recommended etrailer to several friends after you guys made it so easy for me to get the hitch and the bike rack that fit my car.

by:

Easy to install on the car and excellent handling as we drive down the road. Easy to load and unload the bikes. Everything we could have expected and more.

@Kenneth happy to hear it!

by:

A solid rack which met my expectations, fits 3 family mountain bikes without any issues.

by:

Very solid rack; my only complaint is that the locking cable is too short when all three bike slots are in use. I had to buy a padlock and 4 ft extension cable to secure the bikes to the rack. Also does not come with a locking bolt, although there is a different type of locking nut which seems secure enough when properly tightened.

by:

This carrier is really well made. It's heavy and heavy duty. Handles our three mountain bikes with no trouble at all. Two things that could be improved, the hooks don't slide easily into place unless the thumb release is pressed. Maybe that's intentional, but it's annoying.

Secondly, the foot release is hard to reach with the bikes loaded. I've seen other brands that have a longer peddle which would be helpful.

One important thing to understand, there's an allen key included for locking the carrier into the hitch receiver. This needs to be tight in order to 1. keep the rack from wobbling side-to-side and 2. to keep the carrier from being removed (and stolen).

by:

Driven over 3,000 miles with these. The product performs without flaws. I never think about me bikes anymore and used to have to get out and adjust them on the rack every hour.

It’s not possible to be happier, and more pleased with the product than I am with my Kuat bike racks. This rack will give you great versatility. We are a family of mountain bikers and when the kids come to town, I can put two bikes in the rear of a small SUV and four bikes on the carrier and drive two or three hours to a family favorite trail, and never worry that the bikes aren’t secure. Loading and unloading are simple, quick and easy. I wish every product I bought performed as well as this one.

by:

This bike rack was exactly what I wanted in a trailer bike rack: sturdiness, ease of use, and a rack that keeps each bike (3 on this rack) separate and secure.

After a year, the Kuat 3-bike carrier is still reliable and easy to use. I really enjoy the way the rack keeps the bikes from swinging or touching, thus preventing any impact damage.

by:

This rack has been a champ! easy to load, holds all 3 adult MTBs without issue. I've used it for about a year now on many MTB trips and it's as good as the day I bought it. Great value.

by:

Very nice bike rack, solid build. The self tightening hitch is excellent, keeps it from rattling and makes it much harder to steal.

by:

Ordering from etrailer is always a great experience. From researching a product before purchase, asking questions to etrailer team before purchase. Ordering, tracking package delivery, to the install videos, and follow up by etrailer team. What a great process. The Kuat Transfer v2 3 bike rack is very solid and nice looking rack. Even fits a kids 16 inch wheel bike. Very pleased with this purchase.

Still love this rack after a year of use. Very sturdy. Love the walk through feature that makes it easier to put the front bikes on without having to stretch your back. Highly recommended.

by:

etrailer was prompt with shipping and the rack was as expected. Assembly was moderately challenging, the directions were somewhat less good than what IKEA provides. But all good in the end, it works just fine. Thanks!

been using it on a regular basis, from tacoma, crv and on rear of rvtrailer .... zero complaints!!

by:

Easy to put together and install on to the vehicle
Able to maneuver around and mount the bikes on it with no issues whatsoever. We are using it for 35inch tire electric bikes and they fit just fine. Haven't driven anywhere with it yet, so can't review that at the moment!

by:

Quality product, great design, easy to use, no problem securing three mountain bikes. Would definitely recommend!

Also worth mentioning, I accidentally lost the security allen key that comes with the product and Kuat customer service sent me a replacement free of charge.

by:

It was better than expected!

by:

I purchased the Kuat Transfer V2 after trying and returning the less expensive and frustrating Thule Apex XT 4 which would have needed the additional cross supports to properly transport the three hardtail mountain bikes we own. After about 40 minutes of assembly of the V2 with a good set of instructions, I was able to install the rack on the back of our vehicle quickly and get the bikes loaded in no time. Bike loading with the split mast design was easy and I was able to reach the foot pivot to lower the rack for access into the rear of the vehicle with the bikes loaded easily. The bikes sat in the support cradles securely and the handlebars did not interfere with each other. The rear tire ratchet straps were easy to secure and did not interfere with the wheel cradles while loading the bikes which I liked. The bike lock is easy to access and the cable secured to the rack easily. Overall I’m very pleased with the purchase and glad I sprung a bit more for a platform rack.

by:

Received in a wel packaged box yesterday afternoon and quickly assembled following excellent step by step instructions. Rack to be mounted to my truck 2 inch hitch later this afternoon, then will size each of the three bikes on each platform. Want to thank e- trailer from order to delivery, great support. Next step based on excellent recommendation from Kyle S back on 18 Feb is to add a swing out capability with the Yakima back swing swing away hitch extender later this Fall, one step at a time. More to follow, Thanks!

by:

This rack came very well packaged with easy instructions to follow. It took about 1 hour to put it together. It is a very high quality product. We have it on our Subaru Crosstrek and it doesn't interfere with opening the back hatch when the rack is in the down position. The bikes are a breeze to load and unload. I highly recommend this bike rack.

Have now been using this rack pretty regularly for around a year and it has been extremely solid. I hesitated to buy such an expensive rack at first, but really no regrets. The Kuats quality has provided peace of mind when hauling two or even three bikes at a time. Its easy to use, easy to take on and off, and holds the bikes very securely. They barely even wobble, even when Im driving at highway speeds. Still highly recommend!

@Michael Nice! I have a Kuat rack as well and I couldn't agree with you more! It has served me well for several years now. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

by:

Works very well and is easy to load. Tilting it down to open the hatch is a little hard with three bikes on the rack. Well built and I like the hitch tightening bolt.

  • Can the Thule Epos Bike Rack Travel in the Vertical Stored Position?
Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out! I believe you're asking about the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # TH69XE. You can park with it in the "stored" position, but since it doesn't fold up next to the vehicle you won't really be saving on space at the back, and Thule lists in their instructions not to drive around with the trays in the stored position either. We have a few alternatives like the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU24FR and RockyMounts HighNoon FC # RKY74MR that are 3-bike racks and have...

I can help, but since you have a Class I hitch you can only carry up to 2 bikes with that setup. What you would need is a Class III hitch installed on your 2017 Acura RDX. For that you would want to remove the dealer hitch and then install the Draw Tite part # 75784. With this hitch you could easily carry a 3 bike rack. Hi Rolly, We unfortunately don't have a picture showing what it would look like for either bike rack from the backup camera's view. The Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # KU24FR and RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack # RKY10004-10005 are going to give you a similar view, but the Transfer V2 has a slightly more open design between the rails/hooks so it'll likely be the better option. It also doesn't have a center mast like the MonoRail so there's on less thing to block the camera view....

  • Is The Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack Or RockyMounts MonoRail 3 Bike Rack a Better Option?
I have a couple reasons Anthony, that I feel like makes the Kuat Transfer # KU24FR much nicer to use than the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack # RKY10004-10005. With as deep as the 3 bike racks are I like on the Kuat you do not have the full length trays which allows you to get up to where the bike connects. This makes putting on and taking the bikes off so much easier especially when you have to load them all by yourself. And in my experience working with all the different companies Kuat's...
